Adobe Photoshop CS is version 8.0 of the Photoshop series. While it has a gazillion features, this is a collection (to be added to with time and growing expertise) of tutorials targeting the most common commands for photographic image adjustments.
It is intended as a guide for those with limited experience in using Photoshop to work with photographic images. Outrageous manipulations are possible with Photoshop and there are other places on the web to find those. These articles are part tutorial and part notes-to-self. I have found that having to explain in writing how a certain something works forces me to think more carefully about it and, with time, better understand it myself. Visit the photography on this site.
With that said, use Photoshop to bring an image more in line with what a human eye would have perceived. The idea is not so much to over-saturate tones or faslely color images but rather to tweak images as gently as possible to bring out their full potential. When you think, "Wow! that looks even better than what I remember", then you have probably gone too far.
