Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Fence around the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, California Daily tours to the top of the lighthouse to view the Fresnel prism were available until 2001 when a large chunk of concrete fell off. The lighthouse itself is now fenced off to visitors. The massive Fresnel prism has now been replaced by an electric lamp and the lighthouse remains in service.

Go there not just for the lighthouse but also to see squadrons of pelicans skim sinuously over the immaculately blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse is on California's famous Highway 1 and is close to the town of Pescadero. More information is at the website of the California State parks.
